  • Responsibilities

    The primary function is to provide leadership, clinical and financial direction to multiple site Therapy Departments. The RRD is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality care in accordance with CMS guidelines in the Therapy departments. In addition, the RRD guides the FRD in the coordination of the RUG determination, Part B and Managed Care utilization and promoting customer service with all other departments, physicians, patients, families, etc.


    • Must have a Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in PT, OT or SLP. Other health related fields considered by exception by the Corporate Director of Rehabilitation.
    • Must hold and maintain current licensed to practice in the appropriate State. License must be in good standing.
    • Must have a minimum of two years of management experience and additional years of experience in a skilled nursing facility. Must have knowledge of the regulatory process and quality management.
    • Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job.
    • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperative with others. Must be able to communicate verbally in a positive and professional manner.

    To provide guidance, monitoring and support in the following areas for the FRD’s in region. Staff department to achieve minimum productivity. Schedule and monitor contract labor prudently. Strive to meet the facility’s labor budget. Recruit, orient, train, and schedule Rehab staff to manage the patient volume. Show cost-saving initiatives through process improvement plans. Orient and train staff in Skilled PPS model of service delivery. Utilize scheduling software for Therapist and Patient schedules. Develop proficiency in therapy billing software. Complete FRD quarterly bonus review, and provide guidance and recommendations on correcting deficiencies.

    Monitor facility performance and provide guidance and recommendations to FRD on meeting financial goals of RUG rate, Part B utilization, length of stay, managed care rate, and ancillary services.

    Participate in program development.

    Identify best practices/protocols per discipline and share with other regions . Encourage interdisciplinary care through integration with nursing services, MDS coordinator(s), social services, physicians, business office staff, etc. Provides or schedule in-service training education for the Rehab staff and other facility staff. Oversee the coordination of student/internship programs with the colleges and universities as requested and appropriate. Complete quarterly facility audits and FRD quarterly bonus reviews and provide corrections and recommendations on any deficiencies.


    Understand implementation of all standards and regulations. Oversight responsibility for the COMPLIANCE following Federal Regulations:

    F-310 ADLs F-327 Hydration
    F-318 ROM
    F-406 Provision of Rehab Services
    F-317 Contracture Prevention
    F-369 Adaptive Equipment
    F-324 Prevention of Accidents

    Comply with all facility policies related to safety and infection control procedures including the proper use of mechanical lifts, gait belts and personal protective equipment.
    Participate in Annual Mock Surveys and complete quarterly audits and provide corrections and recommendations on any deficiencies.
