  • Responsibilities

    Greystone Healthcare Management has an opportunity for a Travel Director of Nursing in Chicago and surrounding areas. We're looking for a driven, passionate, and caring individual to serve as a leader to our excellent nursing staff and have the ability to travel when/wherever needed to our facilities throughout the northern part of Illinois. 

    This individual will be responsible for planning, coordination, implementation, evaluation and supervision of the nursing services.  The Travel Director of Nursing Services is responsible for maintaining consistent, safe and effective nursing practices and the management of the overall operation of the Nursing Department in accordance with policies, standards of nursing practices and regulatory requirements.   They will establish processes that are outcome focused as to maintain the highest possible level of care and services for each resident, while achieving the facility’s business objectives.

    Additional skills/duties:

    • Work cooperatively with the Administrator. Conduct regular rounds to monitor service, operation, cleanliness and appearance to ensure a comfortable, clean and safe environment
    • Responsible for recruiting, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, evaluation and discipline of nursing personnel
    • Develop and maintain nursing care objectives and standards of nursing care practices for the facility
    • Monitor and oversee the administration of patient medication, control procedures and documentation
    • Monitor staffing and labor costs and purchases to meet facility and financial objectives
    • Manage staff retention through establishing expectations, effective communication and prompt problem resolution and maintain a supportive work environment
    • Assume administrative responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator. Comply with, support and enforce policies involving Risk Management.


    • Must be a qualified RN in good standing and currently licensed in the state of Illinois. 
    • Possess the ability to travel when/wherever needed through the state of Florida to Greystone facilities.
    • Experience in SNF/LTC for short-term rehab residents is required.
    • Previous long-term care experience as a Director of Nursing Services.
    • Prior nurse management experience - 2 years minimum required.
    • Must be a competent leader with strong assessment and managerial skills, along with effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication abilities and critical thinking is necessary.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment using tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
    • Demonstrated understanding of state and federal rules and regulations that govern the practices of the facility.
    • Must be able to relate positively to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other employees.
